I dont know if this is something that has happened in the past, or how it has been handled.

But I just opened a legit topic thread, and BOOM!!! there was very explicit porn pictures in my face. Now I know I am not the only one who is bothered by this, but my kids were 3 feet away well within viewing distance! (dont think they saw though, phew!) This was the second time this has happened. I know our mods can only delete these as quick as they see them, so I am in no way pointing fingers or anything. Just trying to draw attention to the urgency of this problem.


I hope this is a problem that can be handled promptly!
I can't accidentally expose my kids to this. I hope some sort of preventative measures can be taken to keep this kind of material being posted in the forums in the future, especially with the age of some of the users here!

Honestly this is the only forum I have seen this happen to.
Of course half the forums I visit are paid subscriptions....

What I don't understand is why the user who's posting them is still here.
They posted their first 'fun-filled' images last night.
Annnd- they've posted, what, two or three more times? Porn-filled ewness in each post.
So- why haven't they been banned yet? o.o

OMG!!! At first I thought you were crazy because I hadn't seen anything!!! Now I just saw something, and all I can say is *gasp*! I think an easy way to solve this issue would be to put a captcha ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha ) on sign-up to help stop these nasty things. Ugh my poor eyes are scared forever... Putting up a captcha would also get rid of the annoying ad-bots that keep popping up. That is quite disturbing that those kinds of things are happening here... You're right, this is an emergency!

Edit: Apparently Captcha is already used on sign up... That's a problem. I think if we could talk to the mods and ask them to review all new profiles before allowing them to post. If the new 'user' has a name that is a bunch of random letters (like the spam/porn bots here) then I believe we should have reasonable cause to dis-allow the 'user'. I will e-mail the mods on all forums now and warn them of the recent activity of these bots. (this is so messed up)

I just came up with a brilliant idea! We should have a stickied topic in this forum for people to post the forums on which spam bots attack! Then the mods could be emailed every time a new post is put up! This could help remove the bad pictures quite quickly. Do you think this would work? (I hope that made sense)

The porn seems to be gone, but look at the last 4 foreign forum parts.

All I see is some weird links,no pictures there.

I sent a PM to rocky asking what she can do about this, but for now, if you guys have firefox, you can disable images from popping up.

Steps:

1. Go to Tools
2. Go to Options
3. Go to Content
4. Where it says "Load Images Automatically", uncheck it (You can add exceptions later on)

Or download AdBlock Plus ^_^

And the weird link guys are Spambots. They post those links automatically. DON'T Click on it whatever you do. Just some advice ;)

ok, well..... after looking at the board options a little closer I see there is a way to turn off images!

I was thinking the same the other day. My mind wandered, and I ended up imagining a paralled universe in which anyone could delete anybody else's posts on the forum, and everybody was manically deleting any post they didn't agree with and no threads made any sense at all...

Yes, I am odd.

Not so odd, if we could all delete each-other's posts, there's no telling where it would end. Most of us would only use it for deleting spam, but it only takes one or two nutcases to create complete chaos. No need for a parallel universe it could happen in ours.

How ironic that I am one of the few that can't see the porn.

That's cos it was removed a couple of days ago. The only spam that's been surfacing lately has been wordy stuff.

Forum spam is one of the hardest types to stop. Luckily, the company I work for doesn't do message boards, otherwise all our workloads would treble.

It seems for every one I report,two more show up ! I have never seen it this bad!

This isn't an invasion,it's an infection. We need the Internet equivalent of Dr. Jacob Hood!

Best thing to do is report every single one with the Report button. That way Rocky and I can kill them as soon as we read the report.

In the meanwhile, I'll be looking for ways to lock them out.

And please be patient guys, take into consideration that we have different time zones and we of course have jobs of our own... attacks can come at any time...!!
I appreciate (even if I no longer can thank you personally) that you report the bots so that we can do our jobs quicker.
