This barrage of spam is getting really annoying. And I don't want to criticize the admins, but there should be an easy way to stop this.
What about inserting an option that makes sure users can only send pm's after they have been on the forum for at least two weeks or when they have a minimal count of 10 posts? Spambots can't work around this.
Same goes with opening new topics (although you could lower the amount of time you have to be here to a few days)
And isn't it possible to have a stricter policy when it comes to making a new profile?
It may seem like spambots are getting more advanced, but a few simple measures and they don't work anymore.

THE BATTLE RAGED ON AND ON

agreed with marcaroni. i still don't know why some of the members who spend more than half their time on this forum can't have the ability to delete spamartists.
i love the mods here, but they're clearly a bit busy. most other forums i've been on have had admins that were the people who spent over half their time here XD and then when spam here gets out of control, it's another burden to the mods that are already busy here =( there are lots of ways to get around this issue..

I guess they could assign a new mod for deleting spambots, someone who's often around or just extend the KOEs permission to delete those. (though this might be too complicated)

HAHA that was slightly my idea, but instead of it being enabled automatically by 10 posts, make it like a modified trial period. Each newbie gets a limited amount of time/posts to post on the forum, then their accounts either gets rejected (kept in validating mode) or validated by an admin/mod, and they're not allowed to PM.

I agree with the latter.
For the former, I don't think that'd be a great idea, since a lot of people sign on the forum just to ask a question about something in particular...

I'm sure the Admins are either doing their best, or they've just got shit to do outside the forum. I don't know.
But I still have't gotten a spam PM :D Something about Harris makes Harris awesome and immune to spam.

Something simple they could do is add a captcha for making a new account. I bet when Deron gets finished one will be added.

Some captchas can be easily cracked. We have one on the forum where you have to identify what your favorite kamelot song is. We do need a stronger one.
I bet you if you type something random in that captcha, it would be rejected though.

I am not posting often here but I always log here to take a look to see if there's any trouble and possibly use my whip on Brazilian subforum.
My idea is (that I think I already gave my suggestion) that ANY new users must have its messages filtered by any mod/admin. For example: if someone posts something on Brazilian forum, is my obligation to allow or deny that post. If in German one, purplica. After a certain number of allowed posts, the user is free to post anywhere (except KoE, of course), just like we are. So, like that we would have time to check and the admins can ban/delete the user.
And about the PM's, any new user can't send PM's, it only can send them at the same time it is free to post without need mod/admin permission.
Not sure if this idea is possible, but it is an idea.
