Kamelot’s lineup has been slightly unstable for the past year, thanks to singer Roy Khan’s exit. However, the remainder of 2012 looks promising for the power metal group, with a new album on the works and a North American tourwith Nightwish coming up. Now comes word that Kamelot have signed a new recording deal with Steamhammer/SPV.
Kamelot had previously released 2005’s The Black Halo and 2007’s Ghost Opera via Steamhammer/SPV, while their last album (2010’s Poetry for the Poisoned) was released via earMUSIC. “Our new album marks another step and a new chapter for Kamelot and our amazing fans! We are very pleased to be working again with the entire SPV team on this very exciting release” – guitarist Thomas Youngblood says.
Kamelot’s new album is scheduled to be released on September 25 in North America. However, in addition to revealing the album title, Kamelot is also promising to reveal the name of their new singer by the end of June. The band is said to be currently working on drums with sound engineer Jim Morris at the Morrisound Studios in Tampa, FL, while work on the album is due to be completed at Wolfsburg’s Gate studios under the direction of producer Sascha Paeth (Edguy, Avantasia, Rhapsody).
